Song Hae-hwa (left in photo), CEO of Ocean Entec Co., Ltd., has been appointed as the second president of the Busan Certified Trading Company.
The association announced that it held its 2025 Annual General Meeting on the 17th at the Hyatt Hotel in Haeundae, Busan, where members unanimously selected CEO Song as the new president.
The Certified Trading Company was established after the General Trading Company system — once the foundation of Korea’s export industry — was abolished in 2008. Under this system, designated companies export products on behalf of small and medium-sized manufacturers that lack overseas networks or export experience. The system was institutionalized through the 2014 amendment to the Foreign Trade Act and has since expanded; as of the end of last year, to 601 companies nationwide and 75 in Busan have been designated as specialized trading companies.
The Busan Certified Trading Company, the first of its kind established in Korea, has grown into a highly active organization in terms of both scale and export performance. Its founding chairman, Lee Sang-hoon of Dongkwang Trading Company, led the association for 14 years and played a significant role in organizing the nation’s first specialized trading company network in Busan and institutionalizing the system.
Newly appointed President Song stated, “We will continue to identify and support promising small and medium-sized enterprises to expand their exports. Through cooperation and innovation among member companies, we aim to strengthen Busan’s trade competitiveness and make meaningful contributions to Korea’s overseas export growth.”
