Busan – CEO Song Hae-hwa of Ocean Entec Co., Ltd. received a commendation from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy at the 2024 Professional Trading Company Day event held at COEX, Seoul, on July 5.
CEO Song was honored for her contributions to export promotion and the operation of the professional trading company system.
The ceremony was attended by officials from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, KOTRA, the Korea International Trade Association, representatives from 101 newly designated companies, and 3 companies selected as excellent examples—over 100 participants in total.
Ocean Entec is a professional trading company specializing in marine equipment exports, supplying ship engine parts to Mitsui E&S in Japan. The company also serves as a liaison for Korean shipping companies operating European routes, assisting with emergency repairs and periodic inspections at repair shipyards in Spain.
CEO Song commented:
“Since Ocean Entec was first selected as a professional trading company in 2009 by the Minister of Knowledge Economy and the Chairman of KITA, and after the system was legalized in 2014, we have continued to operate as a member company for 15 years. Thanks to strong support from KITA and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, we achieved remarkable growth, even receiving the $5 Million Export Tower Award last year.
Although the sales scale of a professional trading company itself may not be large, I feel a deep sense of fulfillment knowing that, just as every nation—no matter how small—has an equal vote in the UN, we can grow together with Korean manufacturers through mutual cooperation.”
The Professional Trading Company program is a designation system by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, designed to support domestic SMEs and venture firms with strong technologies in expanding overseas. Ocean Entec was selected as an exemplary case due to its consistently increasing export performance.
